Household low energy lightbulb selector
Most people have a couple of low energy lightbulbs in their house. They tend not to have more because they feel that they are too ugly or not bright enough. At one time this was true, but technology has moved fast and at ECO-St we now have over 100 different versions of low energy bulb. We have worked out which low energy bulb matches each traditional bulb and created an online calculator which will show you the best alternatives for your existing bulb, how much they cost and how much you will save by using them.
Don't wait until your bulbs have gone to change them. Normal bulbs will cost you five times as much in electricity to run than a low energy bulb. On average you should save £7 a year for every bulb you change, assuming that you use it reasonably regularly.
How to use the Lightbulb Selector
Our survey is designed to help you identify and count the number of different lightbulbs that you have in your house. Armed with this information we can help you choose the energy saving bulbs that best match the ones that you use at present.
In order to calculate how much money you will save by replacing each bulb then please enter how many watts your existing bulbs are and approximately how long each bulb would be switched on for each week.
If you have already entered details of a certain bulb then you can just click on the menu that says 'same bulb as bedroom 1' for example.
If you are unsure what sort of bulb you have then please note down any codes or numbers and bring them into ECO-St. Hopefully we'll have something to match. You could also check our quick guide to common lightbulbs and fittings.
If your bulb looks like none of those in the picture then it probably doesn't have a low energy alternative yet or it may be low energy now (most fluorescent tubes are already energy efficient).
Note on dimmer switches: We do have a couple of dimmable low energy bulbs but as a general rule low energy bulbs do not work with dimmer switches.
